Let’s go to Lynyard Cay

Categories :

A large contingent of Royal Marsh Harbour Yacht Club Members headed out of Abaco Beach Resort to anchor at Lynyard Cay on Wednesday.  Several boats picked up a mooring ball at Little Harbour just across the Sea of Abaco from Lynyard Cay.  The weather was good for heading south, so  many of the mooring balls were taken with boaters waiting to head to Eleuthera or the Exumas.  Our draft is a little too much to get into Little Harbour except at high tide so we decided it best to anchor.  The winds were pretty high on the ride over and the trip was fairly bouncy.  The waves from the Atlantic were crashing over the rocks into the Sea of Abaco.

Not a good day to snorkel at Sandy Cay

As soon as we got anchored Steve got the dinghy down to determine the roughness of the seas for the ride over to Pete’s Pub in Little Harbour for dinner.  Steve made it about halfway when Joy Scout (our Boston Whaler dinghy) started having some trouble.  He turned around rather than having the engine stall leaving him stranded.  Joy Scout would run very slowly but as soon as Steve tried to run up faster and get on plane, she would choke and stall.

We bummed a ride from another dinghy over to Pete’s Pub for dinner but not before we explored the beaches at Lynyard.

A tribute to Uncle Charlie who is rumored to have lived on Lynyard Cay at one time.

Someone left their treasures on the picnic table

Happy Valentine’s to everyone!  Hoping you have a great day!
