Road Trip on Good Friday

Categories :

(3/30/18) We had planned on taking the dinghy out to explore on Good Friday.  One look at the Sea of Abaco and we decided this would be a wet and bumpy ride.  Our backup plan was to rent a car and drive around the island.  Steve walked up to the Rental Wheels to see if they had an available car for the day.  I was not hopeful as the island has been teeming with visitors for the Easter Holiday.  The owner just happened to be there but told Steve they were officially closed.  He said that the single car in the lot had been returned early and we could have it for the day.  Many of you know of our family habit of owning  red cars.  Can you guess the color of our little rental?

We set out to explore the island from Marsh Harbour to Sandy Point about 50 miles away on the Great Abaco Highway. The  map below shows our route.  The Bahamians take their holidays seriously.  There was almost no one on the roads and ALL the businesses were closed on Good Friday.

  1. I’m liking that little red car! It looks rather spacious – almost a road-hog compared to the “spec” Nancy and I wound up with for the Jax trip last summer!
We’ve enjoyed all the posts from warm souther waters!

    1. The little car was spacious and had air conditioning. Glad you are enjoying the posts. Hoping we bring warm weather back with us to the U.S.
