Oh what a lovely cave!

Categories :

(4/5/18) I have written about Randolph Johnston the sculpture artist who left Massachusetts with his wife and three sons to live in the Bahamas.  While waiting to build their home in Little Harbour, they lived in the caves in the area.  We set out to explore these caves accessible most easily by boat.

Randolph Johnston wrote Artist on His Island, A study in self reliance which features the cave on the cover illustration.

The book is very interesting written in journal form.  His wife must have been an extraordinary person to have survived life in a cave. Their desire to get away from civilization must have been very extreme.   Patti and I weren’t so very interested in exploring the cave which bats like to inhabit.  I didn’t see any bats but I also didn’t look too hard.

  1. There are times I’d like to get away from civilization but couldn’t imagine living in a cave. Very interesting.

    1. I agree Lori–that might be a little too far from civilization for my taste. It was fun to explore and thankful we didn’t see any bats.
