Time to Move MJ

Categories :

(June 25, 2018) It’s that time of year again.  No not Christmas or Thanksgiving although I saw Christmas decorations at Hobby Lobby recently.  It’s hurricane season.  The official season for our area of the country including the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea starts June 1 and is over on November 30.  Our insurance policy states that we have to be out of Florida and above St. Mary’s, Georgia by July 1 unless we want to pay significantly more for coverage. We prefer to move to that lovely barrier island know as St. Simons of the coast of Georgia.

We have the challenge of training Izzy on the boat for this trip.  She has never been on MJ but since she is house trained (mostly) we hope not to have that hurdle to cross.  She is ready for the trip with a new bag I purchased from Land’s End.

It is the perfect size for the soft pad on which she likes to lounge, her treats from bark box, dog food, leash, a water bowl and a gracious plenty of toys!  She found it to be a perfect place to rest her head on the trip to Jacksonville.  Wouldn’t it be nice to sleep like a puppy?

Izzy did not like walking at the marina.  The docks do not float and there is a large drop off from the walkway to the boat floor.  She hunkered down like a good GA Dawg and slithered across the cool concrete flooring before being lifted up Steve and carried onto the boat.  She explored the boat with some enthusiasm and even learned how to use the green grass potty pad on the foredeck.  We think she is going to like it as there are many nice places to nap on the MJ as well as some cans to chew.

In the Galley
Chewing on canned goods
Snoozing in the head!

It was good to get Izzy settled before meeting Lainey at Mellow Mushroom in the Avondale/Riverside section of town.  Mellow Mushroom has dog friendly seating on the sidewalk which is good for Izzy.  Another learning opportunity for public behavior for out Izzy girl.
