Visiting the Holy City
It’s not so hard to leave the Bahamas when you get to go to the Holy City for a wedding. Charleston, South Carolina is often called the Holy City due to the religious freedom which could be found there several hundred years ago. The church steeples and spires which reach into the skyline provided landmarks to ship captains coming into the port city.
We have spent a great deal of time in this southern city. It is always nice to visit in March when the weather is cooler. I don’t like to go so much in the summer months.
St. Philips Episcopal Church, a National Historic Landmark, is located on Church Street. It was completed in 1838 after the previous structure burned in 1835. The steeple which reaches high above the trees was not completed until 1848. The original St. Philips was located on Broad Street and is now the site of St. Michaels Episcopal Church. It was the first Anglican church established south of Virginia.

One of my favorite places. Would love to live near there.
It is so very pretty. Met a couple from Canada yesterday who have never visited. They are going to be there on their boat. They are in for a treat.
