Home for the holidays
Just 430 miles away from home in Memphis meant we would arrive by early afternoon unless Atlanta traffic got snarled. Atlanta traffic always gets snarled but especially near each and every holiday. Our trip took us through Tupelo, Mississippi and Alabama, but we made no more tourist stops. We were both ready to get home and sleep in our own beds and enjoy the Christmas spirit with our family. Izzy and Steve were glad to see us and we were surprised by an early arrival by Lainey!
Of course, the dogs loved having everyone all together. It’s a little tough to see Hobie closest to the fireplace.
Steve has always given me surprising gifts. Our children have learned from his example.
Last year on our way to the Bahamas on the boat, I decided to teach myself how to crochet. After I learned how to make a chain, I started with an octagonal pillow. Big mistake, actually it was one bit mistake using a whole skein of yarn. I think I learned how to swear better than to crochet. Perhaps the movement of the boat didn’t bode well for needle work. Once I got home on dry land, however, I have learned to crochet hats, rugs, scarves, wash cloths, market bags and baby booties. All of the children received a handmade item for Christmas. But none as special as Matt’s. Katy told me that Matt had complained about his cold nose. (Katy learned from her father not to turn on the heat) I decided to help him out and made him a nose warmer. It was a great hit! I will be taking orders for these for next Christmas. Text me and we can make a deal. (I saw these for sale on ETSY for $15–who knew?)
We had a small family dinner at our house and then a LARGE family dinner at Megan & Scott’s.
Hoping to carry the Christmas spirit with me throughout the new year!

I really wish we could have been here to celebrate Christmas with all of you. However, it had been years since I spent Christmas with my own family.
We missed seeing all of you but understand how you need to go to Michigan.
Love the pictures and nose warmer. Glad the Pooles had a wonderful Christmas together!
It’s so good to see family. We have grown so large that it’s hard to see everyone-but we try!
Wow! One of these pictures shows Steve’s imptessive collection of long guns. I did not know he was a hunter.
Yes, he was a hunter before we started boating so much. We enjoyed those days of venison burgers and chili!
