A New Dream
A reader recently asked me about our dream of exploring the Great Loop. That dream still lives. It is just on hold. There was so much to learn as a first time cruiser. In our first year of cruising we went from Annapolis, to Fort Lauderdale, and the Bahamas. Upon our return to the states we explored Jacksonville, Isle of Hope and Charleston.
We did not realize that we would fall in love with the crystal clear waters of Florida and the Bahamas. The St. John’s River also spoke to us with it’s natural beauty and the glimpses it gives of old Florida. Our time in St. Petersburg allowed us to enjoy it’s historic downtown as well as the white sandy beaches. In St. Simon’s Island, one of the Golden Isles of Georgia we have found a home away from home. The friends we have made there make it hard not to return each summer for hurricane season.
The experiences of life and the journeys we take often shape our dreams. New dreams and plans have jumped ahead the Great Loop but haven’t replaced it. The Dream for now is to enjoy the journey as it comes to us and hope for a Great Loop adventure in the future.
