Cape Haze to Fort Myers

Before leaving Palm Island Marina, we had no shortage of bystanders offering us advice on how to get out of our slip and back into the ICW.   We always consider all the issues–wind, current, other boats, and tide when we are leaving.  Steve made a plan and pulled out.  Can you see the RV parked in the yard we passed as we exited the marina?

The Dolphin Show followed us along the way!

Dave and Charlene became familiar with the rhythmic splashing indicating we were being followed again.   We passed several barrier islands along the way to Fort Myers: Gasparilla Island at the north end of Charlotte Harbor, Cayo Costa State Park on Lacosta Island at south end of the harbor.  As we entered Pine Island Sound we passed North Captiva and Captiva Islands.  We waved to the South Seas Plantation–another beautiful resort we have visited by boat.  Entering the San Carlos Bay put Sanibel Island on our port side.  We spent a week on Sanibel in 1996 for our tenth anniversary.

Estero Island and Fort Myers Beach came into view as soon as we passed under the bridge to Sanibel. Although we were a little worried about the current at the marina, we had no problem getting into our slip at the Pink Shell Resort and Marina.
