Great Sale to Green Turtle Cay
(11/28/17) The Great Sale anchorage is peaceful. I slept right through an incident that occurred during the night. Thankfully, was not sleeping as soundly. The water pump turned on sometime in the night. He wondered why it would turn on given that we were asleep and no one was using the water. He got up to see water pouring out of the ice maker. Quick on his feet–he shut of the water pump and ice maker. However, the carpet in the salon was soaking wet. He quietly removed the carpet to the cockpit and came back to bed. When I got up in the morning he calmly told me that we had lost some water during the night. Our water tank holds 300 gallons of water. After a quick inspection–we hadn’t lost very much water. Steve must have caught the leak almost immediately. Fortunately, Steve is very handy and found the water line and reconnected it. We left the carpet in the cockpit to dry during the day. It was mostly dry when we had to bring it in because we could see rain in the horizon.
It was a bumpy, sloppy ride through the Little Bahama bank to Green Turtle Cay. There are two rocks to avoid. Veteran’s Rock and Center of the World Rock. Other than keeping away from these two hazards, we just kept plugging across the white capping waters.
There are two sounds opening to the west on Green Turtle Cay. White sound is to the north and Black sound is to the south. Green Turtle Cay Club is in White sound. The entrance is very well-marked which is unusual for many places in the Bahamas. Wesley, the dock master, was very helpful and stood out on the docks as we approached directing us to our slip. After taking a stern line, he hopped on board to help me with the tall pilings. I was more than grateful. He went above and beyond the call of duty in helping us get settled.
As we were tying off, I noticed a happy crowd coming to the dock by ferry. Some of the women were wearing Christmas headbands. As we checked in behind them we struck up a conversation to discover they are from North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Later, at dinner we enjoyed more conversation with them to discover we have connections with from the College of Charleston when Katy attended and from Eckerd College where Lainey was a student. They are big Gamecock fans but seemed to appreciate meeting some Bull Dawgs along the way.
We tried the signature drink at the restaurant. Can you guess the name? The Tipsy Turtle–a fruity rum drink. It was mostly fruity and way to sweet for me but Steve enjoyed it. The grilled Mahi Mahi with broccoli and squash hit the spot for me. Steve seemed to enjoy the Lobster and Seafood Alfredo.

Devotion from Psalms 65:8 encourages us to get up early and watch God make a morning. We have been rewarded greatly watching God starting the day with a beautiful sunrise on the water.

We aren’t stopping at Great Guana Cay until after we get settled at Marsh Harbor and then I am sure we will make a visit or two.
