Movie Night at Abaco Beach Resort

(12/5/17) Royal Marsh Harbour Yacht Club has plenty of activities in which to participate.  Today was the much anticipated movie night!  Two members–Scott & Mary–brought a screen with a PVC frame that they attached to the RMHYC tent.  They also brought movies.  Scott had teased the group that the film title was to be a secret.  Anticipation built for the movie as everyone tried to guess which film Scott might choose for this first movie night.  

I gave up guessing when I discovered it was a 1955 classic.  Before my time, just barely.  The film stars Henry Fonda, James Cagney, Jack Lemon and William Powell.  The story takes place on the U.S. Navy cargo ship Reluctant in the South Pacific in the final days of World War II.   Henry Fonda plays executive officer and cargo chief who tries to shield the crew from the much disliked James Cagney.  William Powell plays the genial good friend “Doc.”  Jack Lemon is Fonda’s bunk mate who spends most of his time trying to avoid any contact with the grumpy captain.  

Anyone have any guesses as to the title of the film yet?  I will let you ponder that question.   

Judy contacted the chef at Abaco Beach Resort who agreed to make pizzas for the group.  They were delivered by golf cart hot and appetizing.  Several people provided assorted desserts to go with our pizza and movie night.  Scott and Mary surprised everyone after dinner with a popcorn machine and bags to make the night even more special.

Figure out the movie yet?  Mister Roberts is the name of our first movie.  It was fun to watch the movie that was appropriate for all viewing audiences and took place on a boat.   Now Scott is on a mission to find a Christmas movie.  I suggested A Christmas Story with Peter Billingsly and Darren McGavin.
